Jam Sessions

We offer moderated acoustic jam sessions in a variety of styles. Jams are a great way to practice concepts learned in private lessons, to learn new tunes and connect with other area musicians who may of may not be 317 students. Jams are lead by a 317 instructor and open to all on a drop-in basis - no need to signup ahead of time, just show up with your instrument! We do ask for a $5 donation, punchcards are available where you can pay for 10 weeks in advance and get an eleventh free. Jams are open to musicians of all levels of ability - no egos allowed! You can rest assured you will feel comfortable, supported and welcome at any of our jams.

 

MONDAY

7pm-8:30pm at the Portland Studio at Acoustic Artisans (One Forest Avenue)

 

Playing and singing tunes from a variety of genres, all acoustic instruments and singers are welcome.

 

TUESDAY

Bluegrass Jam hosted by Jason Phelps

6:30pm-8:30pm in Yarmouth Bring your acoustic stringed instrument and voice and join us for a fun NO PRESSURE evening of bluegrass and related acoustic music. This a perfect opportunity to work on changing chords and playing with other like minded people. If you are learning to improvise, you will get LOTS of chances to try out new ideas in a supportive, ego-free environment. Your host will write out the chords to the tunes on a whiteboard so you can follow along that way or by ear.

WEDNESDAY

THURSDAY

Jug Band Jam hosted by Joe Walsh and Matt Shipman

1:30pm-2:45pm in Yarmouth

Join Matt and Joe for a fun afternoon session of jug band tunes, a little Texas swing, maybe some blues, you never know what we might play. Open to all levels of ability.

Irish Session hosted by Nicole Rabata & Melissa Bragdon

7:30pm-8:30pm in Yarmouth

Want to learn some new Irish/Celtic tunes? Come join us for our weekly session where we play old favorites and learn new tunes as well.  Open to all levels.
